I have written an article previously on how to study IGCSE Science. In this post, I will like to introduce a hands on activity to help students understand the concepts in IGCSE Coordinated Science.
This is an interesting experiment to try out when doing the topic, Organic Chemistry. Look at what happens when acetone is poured on a styrofoam cup. Acetone is commonly found in nail polish remover.
Styrofoam is made up of polystyrene with air bubbles trapped inside. Polystyrene is a type of polymer. When acetone is added, the styrofoam becomes soft, releasing air bubbles.
